Helen Mathie MSc BSc (Hons) MCSP SRP ACPAT A
Helen Mathie currently works as Physiotherapist for both riders and horses on the Para equestrian dressage Development Squad. She also works with the Performance squad riders and was Physiotherapist to the Para-equestrian dressage team at the Beijing Paralympics 2008.
Helen graduated from Nottingham University in 1997 and then went on to train as a physiotherapist graduating from St Georges Hospital Medical School, London in 2003. Helen is dually qualified treating both humans and animals having completed a MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy at the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2007. Helen joined the World Class Para Equestrian Dressage Development Squad in 2007 working alongside physiotherapist Andy Thomas. She started working with the para-equestrian dressage Performance squad in 2008 providing support for the riders in the lead up to Beijing 2008. She acts as a link between the rider’s home therapist and the other members of the support team ensuring continuity and progression of injury prevention / management as appropriate to help maximise performance.
