Team GBR

Brendan Murray first worked with animals when he became a Zoo Keeper Attendant at London Zoo in Regents Park in 1976. He would often see the King's Troop riding past and when he was 22 years old he jumped at the chance to join the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery. It was the first time he had ridden and fell off a few times during training! In 1983 he joined the forge and became a Farrier to the troop progressing to a Sergeant in 1988. In 1989, Brendan received a call from the Commanding Officer who introduced him to Lord Beresford and he was subsequently invited to become the British Eventing Team Farrier, a post he has held for almost 20 years. As part of Team GBR, he has looked after the squad at 5 Olympic Games, 3 World Equestrian Games and many European Championships.

Brendan left the Army in 2000 and now lives in Cambridgeshire. He has since enjoyed working on film sets as an 'extra' as a farrier and riding horses
